Action

Workstation 4: Action

You have successfully changed the way you do things many times in your life.  While you may

recognize and understand differences and feel motivated to adapt, you also need systems and strategies to adjust your communication and operating style to better fit the environment – and pave the way to for better relationships with your superior, colleagues, reports, clients, friends, and the butcher.

Through a perspective of relationships, we will support and guide each other to develop customized systems and strategies for taking action steps:

  • Try out new behaviors, habits and ways of communicating — in baby steps, incrementally over time,
    • Welcome feedback,
    • Revise and adjust the plan,
    • Try again,
    • Celebrate small successes,
    • Overcome the obstacles that are holding you back from taking action.

In addition, you will:

  • Exchange stories and reflect on personal experiences with other members.

To take a perspective of relationships, you may need to remove a few obstacles:

  • a lack of knowledge, understanding and motivation,
  • lack of interest,
  • lack of trust,
  • fear of not being competent in the other culture,

Through the whole-brain, whole-body workout, you will gain tools and strategies to overcome these obstacles and open up a route to building the trust based relationships you need — to do what you need to do.

The big bonus:

feel more comfortable trying new ways to do things and more confident in choosing the correct behavior for the context.

The task isn’t taking on odd behaviors to satisfy a list of dos and don’ts, but using new behaviors as a means to reach out and form connections and relationships.

create rapport, develop empathy, bring people together with different views, collaborate and influence others.  It’s easier to adjust your verbal and non-verbal communication style fit the context, to communicate with respect, clarity, diplomacy and honesty.
